Anti-Wrinkle Injections

A neuromodulator is injected into the facial muscles to temporarily prevent them from contracting, therefore reducing the appearance of wrinkles. It is commonly referred to as “Botox©” although Botox is actually a brand of neuromodulator, similar to Dysport©, Nuceiva© and Xeomin©. They have minor differences in their composition but yield very similar results.

FAQs

How long does it last?

Neuromodulators usually kick in about 3-4 days after injection, although full effects can be seen at 2 weeks. This is the appropriate time for a follow-up appointment. On average it lasts 3-4 months, though results can vary depending on age, metabolism and lifestyle.

When should I start?

Prevention is key! It’s easier to treat “dynamic” wrinkles (faint, thin lines only present with movement), versus a “static” wrinkle (deeper lines present at rest). Dynamic wrinkles will require less units and fewer appointments.

Is it safe?

Yes, it’s been used safely and successfully for decades! It has many medical indications as well, including in the use of children. There are few contraindications including pregnancy, breastfeeding and neuromuscular diseases. Schedule a consultation to learn more!
